Go With Axon - Kunsman Transport

Tell us about Kunsman Transport.
"Sure.  We're a family-owned business.  My parents bought Kunsman Transport in 1990, and they've been operating it ever since.  We haul livestock to the western provinces and into the western states.  Mostly hogs and cattle, but we do haul the occasional load of sheep and horses for some customers."

When did you first begin using the Axon Software?
"I think it would be back in 1998, somewhere in there."

Tell us a little bit about your experience dealing with Axon.
"It's been wonderful, especially the transfer over from your C4 system to this one.  We had excellent support going over so it was a nice, smooth transition. We had all kinds of computer things that we were trying to set up because we have an office in Saskatchewan as well.  And they have us all set up where we can interface and do everything remotely with our dispatcher in Saskatchewan so we had a lot of your staff helping us.

I mean they were so helpful.  We had our computer guy here -- I think he was on the phone with you guys there quite a bit when we were setting it up.  It's all set up on the server, and I can work from home, and Mom works from the office, and we've got Barry working out of Saskatchewan.  I love that part."

Kunsman Transport is a family-owned business operating out of Lethbridge, Alberta.    They haul livestock to the western provinces and into the western states.

What type of problems have you solved using the Axon System?
"Well, I know it has saved us so much time.  I just love the driver's settlement report for the lease operators.  We just had our year-end in April, and we used to dread year-end because at year-end we had so many adjustments for lease operators, and it was an absolute nightmare.  And now, with Axon, every month we're reconciled.  The driver's settlement tells us what we owe them, and it all goes to the appropriate accounts, and it's saved us so much time -- I can't even tell you!  That's been huge.

The fuel tax is really nice.  Now we can just print the fuel tax form right from here and send that in, so that saves us a huge amount of time.

Now with year-end, it's just so pleasant working with it because we don't have any adjustments.  It's all specific to our business, and everything is there and entered, and we do a few minor adjustments, and we send it off to the accountant as is, and we're done.

I think trucking companies -- it's just the amount of paperwork that you are required to maintain.  That's one of, I would say, our biggest issues, so this system really helps us track and maintain all the paperwork that's required of us."

Has it improved productivity within your offices?
"Oh, absolutely."

Has the Axon software helped you maintain or improve your customer relations?
"Yeah, I mean, just looking under your business partners and being able to track information and have it accessible.

We use some of those custom fields where you can make notes.  So given our geographic separation, it's easy to see what the other person's done when we're not in the same office.  That's been huge.  Everybody kind of knows what the other person's doing or any special notes or comments that pertain to that customer in particular.

The support with Axon is absolutely wonderful. I love that when we have a problem, we call and we're not put on hold for 20 minutes waiting and there's always ... if it's not our direct support staff, there's always someone else at the office that will take our call and help us through it.  And, you know, it's so easy for you guys to come online if you can't figure it out by talking to us.  The next thing you know, you guys are online looking at it yourself and fixing the problem.  So, we have had wonderful support.

I do have to also compliment you, 'cause I know you guys are always changing little things.  If there's like a glitch or something that we notice, and we mention it, seems like it's getting changed.  So I do notice that you guys are always improving and updating and not just staying at the status quo. "

Does Axon's Total Integration, in Real Time (the ability to enter something once and have it instantly update all of your programs), benefit you?
"Yes.  By reducing errors, and not having to double check your work, that helps us with time saving in itself right there.  It's easily accessible through all your different reports.  Even if you don't have one of the reports you need, you can easily custom make a report, and if I can't figure it out, I can call someone at Axon and they'll help me make a report that gives us just the information that we want.  So, that's nice; it really reduces the chance of errors and having to double check the work and, once it is entered, it can easily be printed off into a meaningful report."

How about the ease of use of the software?
"It's very user friendly.  It was an easy transition, very easy to learn."

Tell us about the training.
"The training was excellent.  Because they were able to pull some of our information while we were training; it was all, you know, pertinent information that I could relate to.  Super training."
