Training Without Tears

Joanne particularly enjoys watching customers discover the advantages of the new system.

Axon's trainers know how frightening it can be to move to new software, but they want to reassure you that you're not alone. "We want you to feel, right from the start, that we're there to help you," says Joanne, one of Axon's experienced trainers.

We're there to help you

Support doesn't just come from the trainers either. The sales representatives meet with the trainers to help them become familiar with your company.

Then the trainers assess your unique needs as well as your hardware network and system requirements. Then it's time to start the training sessions.

Once the training sessions are over, the support team will take over and, again, they will be completely briefed by the trainers on your needs.

In addition, the programmers will make adjustments so that you can continue to do your work the way you want to.

Saving you time and work

Axon makes it easy for you to transfer to a new system. They will import data about your customers and equipment so that you don't need to re-enter the information. They'll also build your financial statements for you.

Axon provides in-depth training sessions to get you started on the new software. You'll start with trucking and move to accounting and you'll receive one-on-one instruction so that you learn the information you need to know as a dispatcher or as an accounting clerk.

"Customers wind up agreeing that remote training has worked better for them," Pete says. Customers can work on their own computers using their own data about customers and equipment. Remote training doesn't disrupt the office as it can be fitted into your schedule and you can practice between sessions and keep up with the day-to-day business.

Training Tips

Axon trainers, like Pete (pictured above), have some helpful advice to offer:

  • "When you learn something new, get in there and play with it and practice. Start using the software right away so you don't forget."

  • "Phone whenever you have a question. Don't save them up."

  • "Keep communications open. Let Axon know what you need to do with your software and keep your fellow office workers informed as well."

Additional training

Training continues to be available once you're established on Axon software. Axon can provide training for new staff or for senior management who want to learn more about preparing financial reports and using management tools such as the Executive Briefing and Custom Reports. Axon also provides training when you purchase a new Axon application such as Work Orders or Payroll. And trainers will help you to learn advanced techniques to make sure you're getting the full benefits of your system.

Great software

The trainers really enjoy their job. They like talking to people from across the continent and they enjoy the challenge of helping you learn a new software system.

Rick Dunbar from V.I.P. Trucking Ltd. comments on Axon's training process
"Excellent. Basically, our trainer worked with our people in Edmonton; he worked with our people in Prince George; and then he worked with our people here. He would explain the whole system to you and take you through the whole process. Which is way better than just saying this is how you do it, you know. He did it so that you understood each leg and explained why you did it. And that was really, really helpful for our staff because they realized that this is the way they had to do it for it to work properly."  (read more)
