GSV Transportation from Ontario, California, and their sister company VMG Transportation from Rancho Cucamonga, California, have grown over tenfold since installing Axon software. We spoke to President Victor Garcia recently about their Axon Software experience.

My name is Victor Garcia. I’m the President of GSV Transportation.

Tell us about the company.

We drive freight all across the United States, mostly LTL. We are located in Ontario, California. We started doing long-haul operations in 2006 and that is when we started using Axon.

Can you tell us about your experience with Axon Software?

It has been great. We started as a small company, using QuickBooks and everything else – so basically the old-fashioned way. Axon definitely helps us save a lot of time in managing our processes.

Before, we had to double-enter a lot of stuff using QuickBooks. More than that is the fact that, with the old-fashioned way, you just can’t grow that fast.

Now we have the ability to grow faster because, when you integrate the systems, it’s there.

When we started using Axon, we only had five trucks with five office staff. With Axon, we have been able to grow to 55 trucks with only 10 staff members. It made it a lot easier.

Has Axon Software changed the way you do fuel tax?

It makes it a lot easier. We have all the miles and we track everything on the system, so we don’t have to do all that double work. We used to use a paper method where we had to gather the fuel receipts and use an Excel spreadsheet.

Axon keeps good track of everything, so it makes it easier for us to track advances or fuel charges to the drivers.

Do the drivers and owner operators find their statements easy to understand?

Yes, they like it because they have everything, they need on one report.

Has Axon Software changed the way you do invoicing?

It has made it a lot easier. We click on it and it’s done. The whole process is complete in just a click.

Does your company do factoring?

Yes. Before, we had to check and figure out whether we had gotten all our money back and we would hope that everything was accounted for. Now, it’s really down to the penny.

We keep track of all the money with Axon.

Have Axon Software reports helped you make better business decisions?

Yes. They tell us what the trucks are generating based on revenue reporting that we are able to derive from Axon. It gives us the true cost of operating, which gives us the flexibility to quote customers the right price and be competitive with everybody else.

Has Axon Software helped with productivity?

It made us a lot more productive. We get more done with less staff. I think we could probably run another 20 trucks easily with the same staff.

From a return on investment standpoint, do you think Axon Software has paid for itself?

I think within a few years it had paid for itself many times.

Since we’ve had Axon, we have been able to save about $150,000 dollars a year in staff that we didn’t need to hire.

How does Axon Software support compare to other systems you’ve used?

I believe Axon has better support. They are always available, or they call us back right away. It’s pretty easy to use the software.

If someone in the industry asked about Axon Software, what would you say?

It has been a great experience. We accomplish a lot with Axon.
