To make a profit, you need to ensure that your rates are in line with your expenses. And your expenses will be different depending on what you’re transporting and where you’re taking it.

Rate Tables: Freight and PayFreight Rates

Using Axon’s Rate Tables, you can set rates based on Origin, Destination, Commodity, Quantity, and Mileage.

The rates apply to both Orders and Tickets, and you can set up as many rates as you need.

Here are a few examples:

  • Flat rate (Minneapolis to St. Paul – $500, Minneapolis to Mankato – $1,000, Minneapolis to Eau Claire – $1,200)
  • Rate based on Quantity (up to 40,000 tons of sand – .03/ton, up to 50,000 tons – .02/ton)
  • Rate based on Mileage (up to 500 miles – 1.77/mile, up to 1,000 miles – 1.55/mile)

Pay Rates

You can use the Freight Rate Tables to set up Pay Rates as well as Freight Rates.

Pay Rates are usually based on the Commodity (Orders) or Job Description (Tickets).

Here are a few examples:

  • Pay rates based on Billing Rates for Drivers and Owner Operators (Tickets)
  • Pay rates for Drivers, Owner Operators, and Carriers based on a percentage of the revenue
  • Pay rates for Drivers, Owner Operators, and Carriers based on a percentage of the billing rate
  • Flat rate
  • Order/Ticket Other Pay rate based on Commodity or Quantity (e.g. 1000 lbs. x .25 = $250)
